Small Business Australia collects personal details to ensure we can get your views on important issues affecting small business, and can keep you posted on our campaigns. The information we collect includes:
Information you provide - We capture basic details as part of the membership signup process.You can ask to stop receiving these emails or change your details at any time by using the link at the bottom of each email or by sending an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Any additional information you choose to provide in the course of Small Business Australia surveys is stored securely.
Communications with us - We may retain information you’ve provided via email or phone to help us respond to your enquiry.
User analysis - We collect general information about how Small Business Australia members use our website and respond to our emails; this information helps us improve our communications to you.
Keeping your details secure
We undertake a variety of security measures to protect against unauthorised access to data, and the unauthorised alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, and physical security measures to guard against unauthorised access to systems where personal data is stored.
We won't sell, trade or exchange your information without your permission
Small Business Australia will not provide your personal information to any other organisation, unless:
- we are required to verify a financial transaction (eg to verify credit card details);
- you petition a decision-maker through our website: your name, town and state will be forwarded to the decision-maker, but not your contact details;
- you send an email through this site (eg to a member of Parliament): that email will come from your address, not Small Business Australia's, and hence will include the details you provide, often including your email address; or,
- we are required by law.
Any Small Business Australia employee that needs to access personal information in order to run or analyse our campaigns has signed a non-disclosure form and is bound by confidentiality obligations, and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.
